Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation

Allied Rehab Hospital houses one of the nation's leading spinal cord injury (SCI) rehabilitation programs staffed by a board-certified physiatrist.  We provide a full array of services for all stages of recovery. 

Programs and Services

Our Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation program offers a comprehensive approach to treating the complex physical and emotional aspects of spinal cord injury, including:
• Cognitive and emotional issues
• Respiratory disorders
• Impaired muscle strength or coordination
• Loss of bladder and/or bowel control
• Other complications such as deep vein thrombosis, pressure sores, heterotopic ossification, abnormal blood pressure or body temperature control

• Medication assessment/management
• Rehabilitation technology

• Rehabilitative nursing
• Occupational therapy
• Respiratory/pulmonary therapy*
• Physical therapy

• Psychological evaluations/services
• Speech pathology

*Patients who are ventilator dependent or require advanced respiratory therapy are cared for in our Skilled Nursing Center.

• Activities of daily living (ADL) in an apartment setting

• Aquatic therapy
• Patient and family counseling

• Body-weight supported treadmill training

• Bowel and bladder management
• Referral to community services
• Community reintegration
• Seating/positioning
• Comprehensive medical management
• Sexuality/ fertility education and counseling
• Computerized neuromuscular retraining
• Skin management
• Driver evaluation, retraining, adaptive devices
• Environment evaluation and modification • Stress management and emotional support
• Functional electrical stimulation (FES)
• Videofluoroscopy (swallow studies)
• Gait evaluation and training
