Allied Services Chosen to Be Among Top Charities in NYC Marathon

2010 ING NYC Marathon Run

Clarks Summit, PA -- May 26, 2010 -- Allied Services has been awarded one of the top community charities in the country as designated by the New York Road Runners and has earned five coveted spots for interested runners in the 2010 ING New York City Marathon, which will be held on November 7, 2010. A select number of marathon runners across the country and the world have earned the right to participate in the 2010 event by random lottery selection. All other interested runners must seek designated charities, such as Allied Services, and request partnership with a charity to earn one of the coveted spots.

Allied Services, a not-for-profit regional healthcare and human service provider in Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania, will join the following top-rated national charities: The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation for spinal cord injury research, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, The Lance Armstrong Foundation, Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall Camps for seriously ill children, The Boomer Esiason Foundation for cystic fibrosis research, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association, Ronald McDonald House Charities, the Alzheimers Association, and many more.

"The New York City Marathon is world renowned, and is unique in that runners represent top charities in the nation. We are deeply honored to have been chosen to be in their company," said Bill Conaboy, Esq., Allied Services President/CEO and a marathon runner himself. "We hope to attract runners who will best represent Allied Services, our mission, and our community. The funds they raise will help the elderly, the disabled, and those with injuries and illnesses to achieve their highest level of independence and quality of life."

Because traditional marathon training takes approximately 18 weeks, interested runners should contact Allied Services Foundation office at 348-1347 as with questions on how they can represent Allied in participating in the 2010 event.

More information on the marathon can be found at www.ingnycmarathon.org.
